Ionosphere Data of Formosat-7/Cosmic-2
A platform providing ionosphere data products of FORMOSAT-7/COSMIC-2 for research
FORMOSAT-7/COSMIC-2
is the follow-on mission of successful
FORMOSAT-3/COSMIC mission, which will provide more than 4,000 GNSS radio
occultation (RO) observations to monitor the low latitude ionosphere. This website
provides retrieved RO ionospheric electron density profiles, improved RO profiles,
global 3-D ionosphere electron density specifications, and nowcast and forecast ionosphere products.
We wish researchers could utilize the data products provided here to explore ionosphere and space weather.
RO Data description
ionprf/igaprf
ionPrf is one of the data products from FORMOSAT-7/COSMIC-2
occultation observation, which includes the ionospheric electron
density profiles, the calibrated TEC, geographic longitude/latitude
/altitude at perigees, etc.
igaPrf is another data products derived from ionPrf, which includes
corrected electron density profiles and some related observables.
Global Specification Ionosphere
GIS data assimilation model
The GIS assimilates slant total electron content (TEC) observed from ground-based Global
Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiving stations and space-based radio occultation (RO)
measurements by F7/C2,by using Gauss-Markov Kalman filter, into international reference
ionosphere (IRI) model to providecontinuous three-dimensional ionospheric electron density distribution.
DART/TIEGCM
Space Weather Forecasting Model
DART/TIEGCM is a space weather monitoring and forecasting system, using the ensemble Kalman filter method to combine the TIEGCM and ionospheric observations (ground-based GPSTEC, F7/C2 GPS RO, and F7/C2 IVM). This system provides the nowcast and forecast data of the global 3D ionospheric plasma density structure and other physical parameters, such as neutral atmospheric densities, neutral winds, and electric fields, etc..
